I've had the Singer 2250 Tradition sewing machine for a while now. I actually found a good price at our local mall but I see the online prices are the same now. I wasn't someone who would sew very much and I used to just borrow my mother's machine. However, I wanted to get more involved doing some extensive sewing projects so I thought I'd get my own. I also need something that was portable so the Singer 2250 really stood out for me.

It worked almost flawlessly right from the start. I merely had to adjust the thread tension which only took a couple minutes. I think this is pretty standard anyways. Some other reviews complained about the bobbin jamming but I haven't had this problem at all. It also has many different stitches to choose from. I worked my way right through my first project, which even had more than one layer of fabric to sew through. This machine didn't even hiccup once.

I have actually used a couple of different brands before and think this is quite a good buy. My only complaint is the zigzag is not centered, but slightly to the right. I notice it most when working with a narrow zigzag but have learned to deal with it. Other than this small issue I have no complaints but can only give it 4 stars.

I really like the Singer 2250 and am looking for another to give as a gift. It's a great starter sewing machine but doesn't seem like something I'll outgrow either. If you are heavy into sewing you might want more features but it's fine for me. Plus, I can take it along with me when I leave home.
