The Singer Futura SES1000 sewing and embroidery machine is really everything it claims to be and then some. It is fully electronic and fairly intuitive to use, even for the novice sewer. You do need a personal computer to connect it to but who doesn't have one of them these days? I'm an older guy with no experience but I find this machine to be easy to understand which is really helping me embrace my new hobby. I really like the fact that indepth sewing skills are not necessary for embroidering. You really just need to learn how to let the machine do what it was designed to do.

I got a good deal on this Singer as it came with an extra software package with tons of designs. Not sure if the ones that come with the Futura would be sufficient but the add-on design packages are pretty cheap regardless.

The actual sewing functions are fairly easy to learn as well. This is what is taking me longer but I can actually create nice stitches now. The auto threading is easy to use and I just can't believe how much this sewing machine will do for you. You can efficiently sew without getting bogged down on the boring tasks like adjusting stitches and the needles. I haven't used the serger functionality of the SES1000 yet but if it works like the other functions I'm sure I won't have any problems.

I would recommend the Singer Futura, even if you don't have much experience sewing and embroidering. You will be up to speed in little time but you do have to be somewhat computer savvy to make the design changes.
