Singer 4423 Heavy Duty Sewing Machines

I was looking for a sewing machine that was not only easy to learn on but also one that would work when I became more experienced. The Singer Heavy Duty 4423 really stood out and I'm glad I made the choice. I found it for a great price of around $140 but I would have paid a little more if needed. It really is a great price for a beginner because you don't want to spend a ton of money if you don't really like to sew that often. All of those features would go unused, but this can't happen with the 4423 because it is priced right.

One of the things that really struck me was the appearance. It just doesn't look like other sewing machines but to me that is a good thing. I like the grey finish instead of the standard white that you always see. Plus, the modern design has many different angles so it isn't your basic looking sewing machine.

Most of the features are pretty standard. You get the automatic needle threader which works great. Most people don't really want to spend extra time threading the needle. The included stitches cover the basics and will work for a lot of things. I like to work on my own clothing and this machine goes right through the fabric perfectly. Sometimes though it can be hard for me to find the right speed but I've learned to adapt my pace.

Another thing that drew me to Singer was the reliability of all their sewing and embroidery machines. I did a lot of research on them and couldn't find many negative reviews where the machine broke down. I wanted something that would last even though I'm just starting out because as I learn on it, I don't want to have to replace it. I'm confident that the 4423 will last for many years.

The one thing to note about this machine is the weight as it is quite heavy. It's not overly heavy or anything, just a little surprising when compared to other machines. I guess that is why they call it 'Heavy Duty'. It really is.

Overall I love the Singer 4423. It's affordable, looks unique (and great), and has all the features I need to sew the various things around the house. After doing a lot of research and using it for a while I'm confident I made the best choice.
