I needed a lightweight sewing machine that was easy to just start up and go. After doing some research, reading reviews, and even testing out a couple of machines I opted for the Brother XL-3750. The very first thing I noticed about it was the quick start guide which helped me sew right away. There is a chart for getting the bobbin and machine threaded which I worked through quickly. It did, however, take me a couple turns to get used to the automatic needle threader. I haven't ever had an automatic threading machine before and once I got this down I realized what I had been missing out on.

My first project was really just a test of some scrap fabric. I did a little lighter mending and then moved on to some heavier sewing and the XL3750 handled it perfectly. I also like the reverse stitch button as it is easy to use and very responsive. It converts from a flatbed to free-arm sewing surface with little effort, allowing me to hem any pants I need to. I haven't gotten into all of the included features on this model but I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually. For the simpler projects I do I could not be happier.

The carrying case is nice also and since it is so lightweight I can carry it wherever I need to. I am quite pleased with the Brother XL-3750. If you want a wonderful sewing machine at a reasonable price you can't go wrong with it. The Brother name says it all: quality and affordability! Great for your in-home sewing needs.
