Brother PC-420 PRW Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine

In love with the PC420!

The Brother PC-420 PRW Limited Edition Project Runway is a very nice sewing machine. It was easy to just set it up and sew on. I browsed through the manual only one time and was able to start sewing with much more confidence than ever before. The very first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. The other sewing machines I tried out made a bit more noise and in my household that just wouldn’t fly. I like to quietly sew and quilt when everyone else is asleep.

Some of the features I like with the PC-420 are the automatic needle threader, the automatic thread cutter, the one touch reverse stitch (very nice), and the adjustable sewing speed. I am able to go very slow when working with a delicate garment. There is a lot more to this model but I haven’t gotten around to using all of the features yet. I’m sure I’ll find more that I love after using it for a few months but so far so good. There is one thing I’m not thrilled with and that is the automatic presser foot, and specifically the lift and lower feature. It’s awkward using the metal bar that goes underneath the table. I really think I just need to get used to it since it is so different from my prior machine.

The construction on the Brother PRW is very solid and you can tell it will hold up to a lot of use. For the money it really can do quite a bit. I have seen machines upwards of $800 that don’t do what this one can. If you want a machine that allows you to sew with confidence, no matter what your level of expertise is, then this is a terrific choice. You can really tell that Brother put some thought into it.
