Brother LB-6800PRW Computerized Embroidery and Sewing Machines
Good machine, even for a beginner like me

I hadn't used a sewing machine in more than 10 years so I was a little hesitant when buying one. I looked around quite a bit and found that I needed one that could do embroidery as well as sew. Most of these combo machines looked good but something just stood out on the Brother LB-6800 PRW. As a 'Project Runway' model it is equipped with more functionality than their standard machines, but also has a higher price.
It sews and embroiders much better than my prior sewing machine but I did have some problems getting used to threading. I do, however, really like connecting it to my computer. I have been browsing and downloading free designs from the internet and really having fun doing it! I'm even experimenting with modifying some to my liking. Some of the things I've embroidered for the family have turned out wonderfully, though this took some time getting it just right.
The sewing is also very nice. It sews good over even triple thickness materials very smoothly without any hitches at all. It has many features that I'm just learning about but I can see that it will keep me very busy at home. The rolling cart is a nice addition and it keeps it protected nicely from unforeseen bumps and nudges. Overall I'm quite happy with the Brother 6800PRW and would recommend it. I give it 4 stars as it is one of the better combination machines but could be easier to learn on. The price is also a bit high but I guess things have advanced quite a bit in the last ten years since I bought a new sewing machine.
