How To Sew A Basic Running Stitch

A basic running stitch is probably one of the very first hand stitches you will learn how to sew. It is used to simply join a couple pieces of fabric together or perform a typical hem. You will basically weave the thread in and out of the fabric without having it double back on itself. The end result is what you would consider a standard stitch that is strong enough for many applications.

Here we found a couple of great videos that demonstrate this in a very visual way. These are perfect for those just starting out in sewing as they demonstrate this very simple and effective method.
